Description
OPSITE™ FLEXIGRID™ Transparent Adhesive Film Dressing
OPSITE™ FLEXIGRID™ Transparent Adhesive Film Dressing is a sterile, transparent film dressing designed to protect vulnerable or compromised skin and help maintain an optimal environment for superficial wounds. As a thin polyurethane film with an acrylic adhesive, it provides a flexible, conformable cover that allows ongoing visual inspection of the site without removing the dressing. The dressing is commonly used in clinical and community care settings where a waterproof, bacteria-resistant barrier is required while still permitting the skin to breathe.
What it is
This transparent film dressing is supplied with a printed grid backing to support accurate measurement and easy positioning. The film conforms to body contours and moves with the patient, helping support comfort during daily activities. Once applied, the dressing forms a protective layer that helps reduce the risk of external contamination and supports consistent wound management routines.
Intended uses
OPSITE™ FLEXIGRID™ is suitable for a range of low to moderate exuding superficial wounds and for protecting intact skin. It may also be used as a secondary dressing over compatible primary dressings where additional fixation and protection are required. Because it is transparent, clinicians can monitor skin condition, exudate strike-through, and dressing integrity without disturbing the site.
- Superficial wounds such as minor cuts and abrasions
- Protection of closed surgical incisions (as clinically appropriate)
- Blisters and areas at risk of friction
- Skin protection and coverage of vulnerable areas
- Secondary fixation over suitable primary dressings
Key features
- Transparent film to enable continuous visual inspection without removal
- Waterproof outer barrier to support showering and help protect against external moisture
- Bacteria-resistant barrier to help reduce the risk of external contamination when intact
- Breathable film that is permeable to water vapour to help minimize maceration risk
- Flexible and conformable design to fit anatomical contours and support patient comfort
- Grid backing for easier placement and approximate wound measurement
- Adhesive fixation to help maintain a secure seal on clean, dry skin
Application overview
Prepare the site according to local protocol. Ensure the surrounding skin is clean and dry before application. Apply the dressing without stretching the film, smoothing from the center outward to reduce creases and help maintain an effective seal. If used over another dressing, ensure compatibility and that the film extends onto intact surrounding skin for adequate fixation. Dressing change frequency depends on exudate levels, clinical assessment, and local guidelines.
- Clean and dry the skin; clip hair if needed to improve adhesion.
- Select a size that provides an adequate margin over intact skin.
- Apply smoothly, avoiding tension, and press edges to secure.
- Monitor the site through the transparent film and change as indicated.
Important considerations
Use on clean, dry skin for best adhesion. If leakage, lifting edges, excessive exudate, skin irritation, or signs of infection occur, reassess and change the dressing as appropriate. Not all wound types are suitable for film dressings; clinical judgment should guide selection, particularly for heavily exuding, fragile, or infected wounds.
